LEGO Space Police was introduced as a space sub-theme in 1989. Though originally it was known as Space Police, its predecessors Space Police II and Space Police III soon earned it the title of Space Police I.
Details[]
The Space Police featured many wheeled vehicles and a base, oddly enough the base, 6599 Space Lock-Up Isolation Base, was only released in the United States. Four of the Space Police I sets featured a Blacktron pirate as a prisoner. The largest set was the 6986 Mission Commander.
Background/Storyline[]
At this time, Lego wanted to create a background story. The story turned out to be a simple one declaring Blacktron as an antagonist faction creating a "Good guy" and "Bad guy" space agency. The Space Police helped enforce the law and defend Futuron from any attacking Blacktrons.
